The love story of Framar
A chance meeting brought Framar founder Maria together with her future husband Frank when she went to his salon to get her hair done in 1978. Little did she know this salon visit would turn into a love story and be the start of a successful global business.
Three years after the pair met, they married and started working together, leading to the idea for Framar. After spending countless hours cutting foils for the salon, Maria decided to create a foil product specifically designed for colouring hair. At the time using foils in the hair colouring process was a newer concept that was only starting to gain traction. Despite this emerging trend, hairstylists weren’t provided with the luxury of choice they enjoy today, and most were limited to the use of kitchen foils.
Maria envisioned creating a product that was efficient and practical for stylists to use, and in 1986, Framar became the first company to manufacture and sell foil for hairstylists in Canada. More than 35 years later Maria and Frank are still at the helm of the business, joined by three of their sons who’ve become a driving force behind introducing Framar to stylists worldwide. Currently Framar is distributed in over 70 countries and is now available through Haircare Group in Australia.
